Worship Services at St Nicholas
Worship is the heart of our church life. Meeting together for worship each week gives a structure that helps us to stay close
to God and to each other. Our worship gives us an opportunity to express our thanks and praise to God together, and to receive
from God for our life in the world.
Sunday Worship
8.00 am Holy Communion (Traditional, Book of Common Prayer)
Our 8 o'clock communion service uses the Book of Common Prayer, and readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. We don't
sing as part of this service, but there is a short sermon, and the whole service lasts about 40 minutes. The service takes
place in the chancel at the east end of the church.
10.00 am Family Communion with Godly Play
Our 10 o'clock communion service uses contemporary language, and a mixture of traditional hymns and modern songs to help
us in our worship.
The whole church family are together for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the service, at which point children under
the age of 11 leave us to go to Godly Play, which is held in the church vestry. They join us again towards the end of the
service for communion or a blessing.
After the service, most people stay on to chat over a cuppa. We are a friendly and sociable church!
